Phony baloney, get it?

Maeve is at the stage where she loves to tell jokes, even tough they don't make a lick of sense to anyone but her. It started a few months ago with a random comment at the supper table: "tulip, get it?".  No...not really, honey. We've since had many open ended knock knock jokes too. Since then, it has progressed to things like:

"Silly baloney head with a cherry on top.  Get it?"

"Tomato head with ice cream baloney.  Get it?"

"Baloney sandwich with a tomato ice cream on top. Get it?"

See a theme?  Baloney.  Even though Maeve has never seen, tasted or touched baloney (to my knowledge) she is obsessed with it.  And tonight, her best friend's mother sent me an email describing a sweet exchange she'd had with her daughter, only to have it end with "butt and baloney sandwich, get it?".

Oh Maeve, you do entertain!

  2. Do you think we should point baloney out in the store or would that put our Maeve in therapy for years !! xo

  3. And my sincere thanks goes out to Maeve for teaching Ellie everything she knows about jokes, i.e., telling the same "butt and baloney sandwich...get it?!" "joke" over and over and over again, then laughing out loud like it is the funniest joke she ever heard and she's hearing it for the first time. It must be a month since Maeve taught Ellie that joke...so, how long am I going to have to keep fake laughing at it? XO.
